Sports

Konami’s 1983 Olympic-style arcade sports game (Hyper Olympic in Japan/Europe). Atari, Inc. got the North American home license and put a super-chip 2600 port among the first uses of that extra hardware.

Facts

  • Arcade players mash buttons to run. Centuri distributed North American arcades. Atari was the official Olympic video-game sponsor, so the US arcade title could not stay Hyper Olympic.
  • The 2600 version was among the first to use Atari’s super chip for enhanced graphics and gameplay variety.
