Collector note

Standard 360 disc is DVD-9 serial MS-2024 (also PAL Classics). Limited Collector's Edition launched at $69.99 in a metal tin with plastic slipcover: game disc, bonus DVD MS-2087 (documentaries including The Vision of Mass Effect, The Making of Mass Effect, Interactive Storytelling, and Inside BioWare, plus design galleries, soundtrack tracks, and trailers), Galactic Codex: Essentials, and art book A Future Imagined. A separate pre-order bonus disc also existed. Platinum Hits (M59-00073, barcode 882224743075, 11 Feb 2009) and PAL Classics pair the game with bonus disc MS-2235. 2012 Mass Effect Trilogy is a later EA compilation (same MS-2024 serial, Rev 1); this row is the 2007 original (Xbox One backward compatible), not Legendary Edition.

Facts

  • First chapter of a planned trilogy: Shepard's Paragon/Renegade choices and Dialogue Wheel carry into later games.
  • Real-time cover combat with two AI squadmates (pause to issue orders); uncharted worlds use the M35 Mako.
  • Launched as an Xbox 360 exclusive from BioWare and Microsoft Game Studios; Windows port by Demiurge (2008) and PS3 port by Edge of Reality (2012).
  • Bring Down the Sky (March 2008) and Pinnacle Station (August 2009, Demiurge) were Xbox Live DLC, not on the original retail disc.
