Franchise

Mass Effect

Collector note

Two DVD-9 discs, serial EA-2254 (also Platinum Hits, Collector's Edition, and 2012 Trilogy reprints); some travel requires a disc swap. Collector's Edition (barcode 014633168808) is a tin with the two game discs, a 48-page hardcover art book, Mass Effect: Redemption #1, a making-of DVD, exclusive Collector armor/weapon, and a Cerberus Network card. Platinum Hits reprint barcode 014633159820. New copies included a one-time Cerberus Network code; used copies needed a separate unlock. Kasumi, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker were Xbox Live DLC on 360 (later on-disc on PS3). This row is the 2010 original (Xbox One backward compatible), not Legendary Edition.

Facts

  • Importing a completed Mass Effect save carries decisions into this game; starting fresh uses BioWare's default first-game outcomes.
  • Combat shifts from Mass Effect's overheating guns to thermal-clip ammo, regenerating shields/health, and a stripped inventory.
  • Recruitment and loyalty missions decide who survives the suicide mission, along with Normandy upgrades.
  • New copies unlocked Cerberus Network DLC and news; Kasumi, Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival were later Xbox Live packs (not on the original discs).
